Yarnbombing and the law

Hello,What got me knitting is an audacious plan I have had to yarnbomb a local statue/landmark which is in the town center. I was wondering if anyone knows about the legality of yarnbombing/ whether anyone has had trouble with the law? Because if this plan works it would entail completely covering something up, as opposed to adding knitted decoration.Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.See More
